EXTRAVAGUNZA 2006

Labor Day weekend 2006 found the FreeGrazers at "Sawmill Park", the sight of an old sawmill, southwest of Cody, Wyoming Territory. Elevation about 8600 feet. We camped and shot for 3 days. (Yes, it got cold at night). Both SASS and NCOWS venues were shot. Saturday Sept. 2nd we shot 4 SASS stages. Then Sunday 4 NCOWS stages. Cooking, of course, was handled by Flat Nose George and Spotted Horse Hannah, with assistance from Silvertip Annie & Silverado Sweetheart. In addition to the main stages there was a Buffalo Hunt, which was won by Muggins Taylor.

For the NCOWS match no timer was used. With a ten second penalty for misses. There were two classes. Civil War Veteran utilizing percussion firearms. The second class was Indian War Veteran utilizing cartridge firearms of the period. The scores are here. Calico Jack won the Indian Wars category, with Scarbelly Sam from Shiloh taking the Civil War Veteran category. Ladies costume contest won by Lilly Blossom who along with Backstrap Bill won the coveted, (maybe) "Spotted Dick" award. The Spotted Dick Award is give to a Man and/or Woman for whatever is deemed special during the week-end. Backstrap deserved it for spotting during the Buffler Hunt. Lillie for her stages, which brought out the best and worst of our singing abilities. Men's costume was won by Commodore Perry Walker.
